What Are Protective Instincts?
In our safety and training classes we talk about “Protective Instincts”. We stress how important it is to feel, recognize, listen and pay attention to the negative vibes or signs that protective instincts produces in each of us for survival.
Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve felt fine, but then you felt uncomfortable? Maybe you felt a weird sensation come over you that prompted you to go into protective mode. It’s quite possible that you’ve felt your anxiety levels rise up in a matter of seconds and wondered why. These are all examples of protective instincts.
Protective instincts are natural impulses or helpful signs that promote awareness in you to be alert, aware and safe. These instincts warn you to be cautious of certain people, from potential threats or dangerous situations.
A few signs of protective instincts:

Sweat

Anxiety
-
Nervousness
-
Fear
-
Panic
-
Apprehension
-
Hesitation
-
Trust or mistrust
-
Like or dislike emotions
-
A need to run
Your protective instincts should never be ignored when they occur within you. If you happen to experience some uncomfortableness or bad feelings you must immediately become alert, aware and most definitely prepared to protect yourself. Also take a moment to read about Safety Awareness.
