What do you recommend, a Stun Gun or TASER?

Imagine yourself tickling your significant other or your child. They’re saying: “Stop!” “Please Stop!” while squirming and giggling. Once you remove your hand or hands from tickling them, it is then they stop their pleas. When you move in to tickle them once more, they instantly return to giggling and pleading.
This same practice is performed with a stun gun. In order to use a stun gun you must be very close to the individual.
Imagine zapping the bad guy with a stun gun and immediately they feel the electric charge. As soon as you release or remove the stun gun away from their body the electricity ceases,  placing you at greater risk.
Unfortunately, most individuals do not think of the What, Why, When and How when it comes to a stun gun. For instance, “What would happen when I pull the stun gun away from the bad guy’s body?” Possible scenarios: the bad guy could grab your wrist or arm to disarm you. Kick you in your knees or legs so you would drop to the ground, pull your hair or they could head butt you and so forth.
These are reasons why you should never be that close to someone who wants to harm you, especially, with no other plan of defense in place. Bear in mind, that In spite of the bad guy being zapped by the stun gun does not make that person totally defenseless or helpless. If you’re in their space, the bad guy can still attack or harm you.
Without a doubt, this is why we refer to the stun gun as a tickler. Stun guns are only effective when used up close on an individual.
The best electroshock device used for protection is a TASER. TASERS are very similar to stun guns with the electroshock effect. However, TASERS  can be used far away from the perpetrator. You can be about fifteen feet away to launch electrodes into the offender’s body. The two pong electrodes will tether to the targeted area of the body  sending a serious jolt of electricity through his or her body. The electrical charge lasts about thirty-seconds making the bad guy temporarily paralyzed due to neuromuscular incapacitation which gives you time to make a run for it.
Therefore, at Brick Street Safety Academy we do not recommend stun guns due to proximity issues which can be potentially dangerous. We do not feel comfortable with our students or any individual being so close to an attacker when using a stun gun. TASERS, are what we highly recommend.
As a final note, you must have a CPL license in order to carry a TASER in most states. Check your state laws to see what’s required to carry and use a TASER legally.
