Private CPL Class Description:
This private class is taught by a certified NRA Instructor. NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Class is for law-abiding adults, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
What to expect when scheduling a private CPL class?
- Schedule a private CPL class on available weekdays. A representative or instructor will go over possible dates.
- Students should expect to receive the exact lesson, instruction and materials that are provided in a regular CPL class.
- Have more opportunities to ask questions.
- Feel less pressure. Participants are able to take their time to become familiar with the firearm as well as learning materials without feeling rushed.
Many of our private CPL students liked that they could take their time with the class and also benefit from regular paced instruction at the range without feeling left behind or rushed due to many other students needing assistance or extra time.
Class Topics:
- Basic defensive shooting techniques.
- Proper safe handling practices.
- Strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation.
- Firearm laws.
- What to expect emotionally after a deadly force encounter.
- Protocols to take to obtain support and/or legal representation.
- How to apply for your CPL etc.
Students should expect to shoot approximately 50-rounds of ammunition at the range, show proficient safe handling firearm skill sets and retention of the lesson.
Students will receive the following:
- NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home Handbook.
- NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure.
- The Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Booklet.
- Course Completion Certificate.

Materials to bring with you to class:
- Notebook for taking notes
- Ear protection and Eye protection for use at the range. These things can also be purchased at our Academy.
- Personal Firearm. If you do not have a firearm, you can rent a firearm to use at the range. (Williams Gun Sight)
- If bringing your own personal firearm, also bring 50-rounds of ammunition for live fire practice at the range.
- If renting a firearm, the instructor will advise you of what ammo to purchase.
