Course Description:
The BSSA Front Desk Safety Defense class can assist you with recognizing vulnerabilities, threats or red flags. This class will also show you how to deal with conflicts, teach the importance of practicing situational awareness and how to prepare for emergencies and so forth.
This class focuses on 80% mental defense as well as 20% physical protection since most attacks occur when the victim is unprepared or unsuspecting of suspicious behavior, threats or danger. Skills acquired from this class will greatly benefit you and your colleagues on the job as well as in your personal lives.
In this class you’ll learn the following:
The importance of front desk safety.
The reality of workplace violence.
Levels of Situational Awareness.
How to avoid becoming a target.
How to implement safeguards and use distress codes.
How to plan and organize for front desk emergencies.
The use of unarmed non-lethal considerations for defense: Kubotan, Paracord Monkey’s Fist, Pepper Spray, TASER® etc…
How to use items at your front desk for protection or self-defense.
How to choose and use cover and concealment.
Understanding what to do and expect upon Law Enforcement arrival.
How to handle the aftermath of an incident.
How to communicate with 911.
How to set-up Front Desk Safety drills.
You will also receive a 90-page front desk safety manual that will help guide you in assessing the office, check or implement alert systems, check for potential threats, risk factors, vulnerabilities and so forth
This class is a six-hour class. It is very informative and energetic. You will not leave away uninformed or unprepared. There are also simulation scenarios applied in this class. They are designed to help create awareness and the concept of time—‘Action versus Reaction’. Participants will recognize and understand how fast things can escalate and the need to be prepared for anything that may occur on the job and in their personal lives.
Once you have successfully completed the course you will receive a Brick Street Safety Academy Completion Certificate.
