Get out of your head!
Let’s discuss the importance of self-doubt with Safety Defense Coach: Amy Washington. ©2018 Brick Street Safety Academy
When it comes to self-defense most women feel like they will lose the fight! They feel like they’re not physically capable of battling with a male attacker even if it’s necessary to save their lives. It is true that most men are physically stronger than women—this is no surprise. It is also no surprise that most women are smarter than men. So, when you combine self-defense training, a strategic mindset along with strength, you can physically fight with a male attacker to save your life. By no means will you escape from a fight without injuries. There will be bruises, minor or major damages depending on the type of altercation or fight that takes place.
This topic reminds me of a young lady who took our Realtor’s Safety Defense Class. This young lady was very worried about the notion of being overpowered by a man. She was extremely unsure of her ability to fight for her life. Self-doubt was definitely a major deterrent for this young lady.
In class, the young woman stated: “I’m just so afraid!” “I can’t fight a man!” She also added: “Men are too strong!” As this young lady progressed in class learning very helpful self-defense techniques, it became very clear to her that she did in fact, have the ability and the power to fight a man. She realized that the male attacker will not know the self-defense tools and techniques that she was learning. She could see herself avoiding or escaping certain aggressive holds or positions. Her self-doubt turned into self-confidence.
As I tell my students, “You must get out of your head!” When you allow yourself to see and fear doubt, you will approach any fight with an uncertain or hesitant mindset. This mindset will give you the permission to give up, feel defeated or die. Which is unacceptable!!
Therefore, get out of your head and trust that with proper training and belief in yourself, you’ll have the ability to defend yourself from the cruel attacks of a male attacker in spite of his strength. Crush the self-doubt and GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD!
Be Alert, Aware and most definitely BE SAFE!! 🙂
